AI paraphraser

What an AI paraphraser actually does

A paraphraser reworks a passage in different words, so you get the same claim in wording that's yours: reword text, rewrite in your own words, restate a source passage without lifting its sentences. Paste in a sentence, a paragraph or a quote you're working into a draft and it comes back saying the same thing differently.

It's a server tool: your text goes to our AI server to be reworded, not processed locally. You get 5 free runs every 24 hours on a rolling window, nothing to sign up for.

The real risk

What actually goes wrong when text gets paraphrased badly

The obvious worry is a paraphrase that reads clunky. The real risk is quieter: a reworded passage can drift from the original claim without anyone catching it, because it still reads smoothly. A qualifier drops out, a number gets rounded, 'may cause' turns into 'causes', and the new sentence is wrong in a way no spell-checker flags.

This tool is built to hold the claim fixed while the wording changes. It's a rewording tool, not a rewriting tool. Read the result against your source every time, especially anywhere there's a number, a date, a quote or a qualifier attached.

How it works

How to paraphrase text in three steps

Paste, run, check against the source: that's the whole process.

Step 1
Paste the passage you need reworded: a sentence, a paragraph, or a quote going into your own writing.
Step 2
Hit Paraphrase. Your text goes to our AI server, gets reworded, and comes back in seconds.
Step 3
Line up the result against the original and check every number, name and qualifier still matches. Runs left in your 24-hour window show on the button.

Citation

Why you still need to cite a paraphrase

Rewording someone else's idea doesn't make it yours.

The idea, not the wording, is what's tracked
A citation follows where an idea came from. Rewording it changes the phrasing, not the source.
A common mistake
Reworking a sentence until it no longer looks copied, then dropping the citation because it 'looks original' now. It doesn't clear anything.
What this tool is for
A rewording aid for your own writing process, not a way to launder a source out of your citations.

What changes

What a paraphrase should change, and what it can't

Structure and word choice move freely. The claim itself doesn't.

Vocabulary
Synonyms and different phrasing, which is the entire point of a paraphrase.
Sentence structure
Clause order and length can shift, as long as the relationship between ideas stays intact.
Numbers and dates
Should never move. A rounded number is an error, not a paraphrase.
Hedges
'May', 'suggests', 'in some cases' need to survive the reword at the same strength they started at.

Straight answer

Does this get past plagiarism checks or AI detectors?

No, and that's not what it's for. We don't test this against AI or plagiarism detectors, don't tune it to beat either, and can't tell you what any third-party tool will report. Be wary of any paraphraser, ours included, marketed as a way around plagiarism detection, that's a promise about a system nobody controls.

This tool exists to help you reword a passage accurately as part of your own writing. It's not a shortcut past attribution.

In practice

Who uses the paraphraser, and when

It shows up anywhere a source idea needs to enter someone's own writing without copying the source's sentences.

Students
Working a source's idea into their own writing voice while keeping the citation, subject to their school's own policy.
Writers and researchers
Rewording a passage from their own earlier draft so it doesn't repeat verbatim within the same piece.
Report writers
Summarising a source for a brief while keeping it clearly attributed to where it came from.
FAQ

Everything answered. AI paraphraser, frequently asked

How do I paraphrase text online?

Paste it above and hit Paraphrase. It reworks vocabulary and sentence structure while keeping the claim intact, and returns a result in seconds.

Is the AI paraphraser free?

Yes: 5 free runs every 24 hours, no account required.

Is my text stored?

It's sent to our AI server to be reworded and sent back. It isn't used to train models. Don't paste anything you wouldn't send over a network.

Does paraphrasing avoid plagiarism?

No. Rewording someone else's idea doesn't make it yours. A paraphrase of a source still needs a citation, the same as a direct quote would.

Will this pass a plagiarism or AI detector?

That's not a claim we make. We don't test against detectors and can't predict what one reports, so we won't promise a result on a system we don't control.

Does it change my meaning?

It shouldn't. It reworks wording and structure, not the claim. Check numbers, dates and qualifiers against the source, those are what tend to drift unnoticed.

How is this different from the sentence rewriter?

The sentence rewriter improves one of your own sentences: order, length, emphasis. The paraphraser restates a passage, often someone else's, while holding the claim fixed and keeping the citation requirement.

How is this different from the essay rewriter?

The essay rewriter restructures your own document's argument. The paraphraser reworks the wording of a specific passage, often a quoted or cited source rather than your own draft.

Can I use it for academic work?

Your school or program sets that policy for AI-assisted paraphrasing, not us, check with them, and keep the citation regardless of what they say.

Do I still need to cite a source after paraphrasing it?

Yes, always. Rewording changes the phrasing, not where the idea came from.

Does it handle long passages?

Yes, though longer ones take a bit longer to return. Checking against the source is easier in smaller chunks.

Why does my paraphrase read a bit stiff?

It prioritises keeping the claim exact over sounding effortless. Adjust the phrasing yourself after; accuracy matters more than a perfect first pass.

Can I paraphrase a quote for a report?

Yes, that's a common use: reword a source quote into your own sentence structure, keep the citation, move on.

Can I paraphrase my own earlier writing?

Yes, no citation issue there since the idea's already yours. Still worth checking the reworded version says what you meant.

Is there a batch tool or an API?

Not yet. Passages run through one at a time, within your daily allowance.

What happens after I use all 5 runs?

You'll see when your next run opens up. It resets 24 hours after the run that used it.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, fully, in any modern mobile browser.

Should I run it twice on the same passage?

You can, but a second pass raises the odds the claim drifts from the source. Check the result carefully if you do.

Does it support languages other than English?

It's built and tested mainly for English. Other languages may work, but quality isn't held to the same standard.

Why did a number or date shift slightly?

It shouldn't, that's an error rather than an intended change. Correct it against the source before using the result.
