The job

What an AI Turnitin checker is actually for

The useful version of this task is not predicting a number. It is finding the passages in your own draft that read as assembled rather than written, while you still have time to fix them.

That is what this AI Turnitin checker does. It reads the text and reports what an automated reader would have to go on: repetition, uniform sentence length, predictable structure, phrasing that could have come from anywhere. You then decide what to do about each observation, because you are the one who knows which parts you laboured over.

Before you start

This Turnitin checker has no link to Turnitin

No affiliation, no licence, no access to their model, no sight of what their software reports on any file. Turnitin sells to institutions rather than to students, and the workings are not published.

That matters for how you use the result. Treat what comes back as a reading of your prose, not as a rehearsal of somebody else's report. And before you spend effort on any of this, ask your department what your work is actually run through, because a sizeable number of courses use something else or nothing at all.

Workflow

How to run the Turnitin checker in three steps

Five checks per rolling 24 hours, shared with every other AI tool in the app, so plan the session before you start pasting.

Step 1
Pick the section that worries you most. The limit is 12,000 characters, about 2,000 words, and a focused section produces sharper findings than a whole dissertation would.
Step 2
Paste and run. The text goes to our server so a model can read it, and the analysis comes back written out rather than rendered as a meter.
Step 3
Revise only what you recognise. Where a finding matches a passage you know you padded, rewrite it. Where it describes your genuine style, leave it and move on.

Plan the day

Getting a long essay through five checks

A 6,000 word essay does not fit in one check, and re-checking after every edit will exhaust the allowance before lunch. Sequence it instead.

Clean first, free
Run the draft through a local hidden character and whitespace tool. It costs nothing, runs in the browser and stops a check being spent on formatting debris from a chat window.
Check the weakest section
Start with the part you wrote fastest or latest. That is where mechanical prose collects.
Revise several findings at once
Do not re-check after each sentence. Collect the observations, rewrite the passages, then spend one check on the result.
Keep one in reserve
The window rolls forward from when you used each run, so they return one at a time. Leaving a check unspent means you have one on the final pass.

Interpret

Reading what the Turnitin checker gives you back

You get written findings. There is no percentage, no risk band and no sentence-level highlighting, because the tool computes none of those. Other sites in this category show all three, and a figure produced for the sake of the display tells you nothing about your essay.

The analysis is also bound by a rule worth knowing in advance: it is instructed never to claim certainty about authorship, plagiarism or which AI model wrote a text, and to report observable signals and their limits instead. Expect a description of your prose. Do not expect a verdict on who wrote it.

Context

Why careful students get flagged anyway

Detectors score patterns, and several kinds of honest writing produce exactly the patterns they score: formal academic register, prose written tightly to a rubric, heavily templated structure, and the phrasing of writers working in a second language.

Two practical consequences. First, a worrying result is not evidence you did anything, and you should not act as though it were. Second, look at where the mechanical passages cluster rather than how many there are. A dense run in one paragraph is conspicuous. The same number scattered over twenty pages reads as normal writing.

Different tool

What this does not check: plagiarism and similarity

The function Turnitin is best known for is similarity matching against published sources and a store of previously submitted student work. This app does none of that. No corpus, no repository, no matching, no similarity figure.

So if the actual worry is a paraphrase that stayed too close to the original or a quotation that lost its citation during editing, nothing here will surface it. That needs a similarity service, and we are not one.

Straight answer

Will this help me pass Turnitin?

We cannot promise that and will not pretend otherwise. Their output is invisible to us, so any claim about it would be fabricated.

What it does help with is having something to say. A student who has read an honest analysis of their own draft knows which paragraphs are thin and why, and can talk about their work. That is a better position than a rewritten file and a number from a site that will not tell you who it is.

FAQ

Everything answered. Using the Turnitin checker

Is this Turnitin, or connected to it?

Neither. We have no affiliation, no licence and no access to their detector. This is an independent tool that reads your text.

Is the AI Turnitin checker free?

Yes. Five checks per rolling 24 hours, no account, no payment and no card details.

Can it tell me my Turnitin score?

No. We cannot see what Turnitin reports about any document, and we produce no percentage of our own.

Why no percentage or risk meter?

Because the tool does not calculate one. It returns a written analysis, and a number added for the sake of the interface would be decoration.

How much text fits in one check?

Between 1 and 12,000 characters, roughly 2,000 words. Longer work goes through a section at a time.

How do I check a whole dissertation?

You do not, in one pass. Pick the sections you wrote fastest, check those, and use your five daily runs on the parts most likely to be thin.

Does my draft get uploaded?

Yes. The text goes to our server so a model can read it. The browser-based cleanup tools in the app never send anything.

Is my draft stored anywhere?

No. It is passed to the model and the result returns. Only a run counter with a count and an expiry is kept, against a hashed identifier.

Could my essay end up in a similarity database?

No. We run no repository of student work and do no matching of any kind.

Does this detect plagiarism?

No. It describes how the writing reads. Finding matched passages needs a corpus of sources, which we do not have.

Do the five checks reset at midnight?

No. The window rolls forward from when you use each one, so they come back individually in the order you spent them.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no login in the app at all, which is why the allowance is tied to your connection.

Can I upload a file?

No. Paste the text into the box. The tool takes text only.

What score counts as safe?

There is no answer we can give honestly. Institutions set their own thresholds and generally do not publish them, so ask your department rather than trusting a number from a website.

Why would my own writing be flagged?

Formal register, rubric-driven prose, templated structure and second-language phrasing all produce the flat statistical patterns detectors treat as machine-like.

Should I rewrite everything the analysis mentions?

No. Prioritise clusters. Several mechanical sentences packed into one paragraph matter more than the same number spread across a long piece.

Should I clean the text before checking it?

Yes, and it is free. A local pass removes invisible characters and stray spacing left by copying out of a chat window, so the check is spent on the writing.

Will this make my writing undetectable?

No. Detection is probabilistic and flags human writing regularly, so no tool can honestly promise what a third party will report.

Does it work on non-English drafts?

The model handles many languages, with uneven quality. Read the findings critically rather than assuming they transfer.

Why was my check rejected?

Usually an empty box, over 12,000 characters, or a spent allowance. If it reports being temporarily unavailable instead, the model service could not be reached and retrying later is the fix.

What is the difference between this and a humanizer?

This reports on your text without touching it. A humanizer rewrites it. Neither can promise a detector's verdict afterwards.

Are you affiliated with GPTZero, Copyleaks or Originality.ai?

No. We have no relationship with any detection vendor and make no prediction about their results.
