Gemini space remover
What the Gemini space remover does
This app deletes every space character in text copied from Gemini, chat window or an exported Doc, and returns one continuous string. Ordinary spaces, tabs, line breaks and the invisible Unicode spaces Gemini's rendering can leave behind are all stripped in the same pass.
It runs on your device. Paste, press the button, copy the result. Nothing you paste is uploaded.
Why it happens
Why Gemini's nested lists leave behind non-breaking spaces
Gemini often answers with bolded lead-ins and nested sub-points, a structure that needs a non-breaking space to hold visible indentation, since plain HTML would otherwise collapse it. Export to Docs adds a second rendering pass with its own spacing conventions, so a value exported and copied again isn't guaranteed to match a copy straight from the chat window.
Either path can leave a non-breaking space sitting exactly where you'd expect an ordinary one, and a reply that goes through both, rendered in chat, then exported, then copied out of the Doc, has two separate chances to pick one up.
Worked example
Where a non-breaking space actually lands in a Gemini answer
A bolded lead-in followed by a colon and a short explanation is a common Gemini pattern, and the space right after that lead-in is a frequent spot for a non-breaking space to appear, since the renderer wants the bold text and the punctuation that follows it to stay visually attached.
Copy that line into a plain-text editor and it looks completely normal. Copy it into a tool that compares it character by character against a version typed by hand, and the comparison fails at exactly that one position, with nothing on screen to explain why.
Workflow
How to remove spaces from Gemini text in three steps
Nothing to configure.
- Step 1
- Copy the text from the chat window or an exported Doc, and paste it into the box.
- Step 2
- Press Remove spaces. It runs instantly, on your device.
- Step 3
- Copy the result.
What comes out
Which space characters this app removes
A dedicated remover beats find-and-replace because the space bar produces one character, while several others render as a gap and survive a search for a normal space.
- Regular spaces
- The standard space bar character, U+0020.
- Non-breaking spaces
- Common around Gemini's list indentation and in Docs-exported content.
- Tabs and line breaks
- Tab characters, carriage returns and newlines.
- Unicode spaces
- Thin and hair spaces sometimes left behind at formatting boundaries.
- Ideographic space
- The full-width space used in Chinese, Japanese and Korean text.
Why it matters
What stray spaces in Gemini output actually break
A value pasted into a Sheets formula fails to match an identical-looking cell, because a non-breaking space sits where the formula expects an ordinary one. A slug built from a Gemini-written heading resolves to the wrong address.
A non-breaking space carried through a Docs export can also invalidate a CSV import or a database key that otherwise looks correct.
A find-and-replace run inside the exported Doc itself can fail the same way: searching for an ordinary space finds every gap except the one that actually needs fixing.
One structure worth flagging separately: a markdown table Gemini renders in chat. Removing every space from a pasted table collapses the column padding along with everything else, turning a readable grid into an unreadable run of pipes and text. This tool is for a value pulled out of an answer, not for a whole table pasted as-is.
Who it's for
Who uses the Gemini space remover, and when
People building a Sheets formula out of values pasted from Gemini or a Docs export use it to catch a non-breaking space before it silently breaks a match.
Developers pulling identifiers or config values out of Gemini's output use it before pasting into code, and anyone building slugs or keys from Gemini-drafted headings uses it because those fields reject spaces outright.
