Text space remover

What this text space remover does

This app strips every space out of whatever you paste and hands back one unbroken string. That covers the space bar character, tabs, line breaks, and the non-breaking and Unicode spaces that look identical on screen but sit at a different codepoint, so a plain find-and-replace on a normal space misses them entirely.

It runs locally in your browser. There's no upload, no account, and no cap on how much text you paste or how many times you come back to run it.

Workflow

How to use the text space remover in three steps

No settings, no file to prepare, nothing to install first.

1. Paste your text
Drop it into the input box, or type directly. Any length works.
2. Press Remove spaces
The app runs the removal in your browser the instant you click, with no round trip anywhere.
3. Copy the result
The output box holds one continuous string with every space, tab and line break gone.

What gets removed

Every kind of space character this app catches

A dedicated space remover earns its place because ordinary find-and-replace only ever searches for one specific character.

Regular spaces
The standard space bar character.
Non-breaking spaces
Common in text copied out of a web page, and invisible against a normal space.
Tabs and line breaks
Tab characters, carriage returns and newlines, all treated as whitespace.
Thin and hair spaces
Narrow Unicode spaces that chat interfaces and word processors leave behind.
Ideographic space
The full-width space used in Chinese, Japanese and Korean typesetting.

A common frustration

Why running find-and-replace still leaves gaps behind

This is the reason most people end up here. You run a find-and-replace for a space, it reports a number of matches, and the text still shows gaps.

Find-and-replace searched for one exact character, almost always the regular space bar character. The gaps left behind are a different character that only looks the same. This app doesn't search for one character; it removes everything Unicode classifies as whitespace in a single pass, which is why nothing survives it.

Why it matters

What stray spaces actually break downstream

A trailing space you can't see makes a spreadsheet lookup return nothing, or makes two strings that look identical fail to match. A non-breaking space inside a URL slug points somewhere other than where you meant. A filename with a trailing space behaves differently depending on the operating system reading it.

Fields that reject whitespace outright, like API keys, database identifiers and coupon codes, fail with no visible reason when a stray space is the actual cause. Stripping every space before the value goes anywhere removes the whole category of bug.

Choosing the right tool

All spaces gone or just the extra ones: which do you need?

This app removes every space, which is the right job for a slug, a key, a filename or any field that rejects whitespace outright. It is the wrong job for tidying a paragraph of prose, since the result is one unreadable block with every word run together.

If you want to keep normal word spacing and only collapse runs of two or more spaces down to one, use the whitespace minifier instead. Picking the wrong one is the most common mistake: this tool joins words together on purpose, and that is expected, not a bug.

Who uses it

Who uses a text space remover, and when

The same small tool, opened for a few very different reasons.

Developers
Cleaning values copied out of docs before pasting them into code, where a stray space becomes a silent syntax error.
Data and spreadsheet work
Fixing a column that's picked up whitespace and is breaking a lookup or a join.
Anyone building slugs or keys
URL slugs, filenames and API tokens that reject spaces outright.
Localization work
Text pulled from Chinese, Japanese or Korean sources, carrying an ideographic space Western tools don't expect.
FAQ

Everything answered. Text space remover FAQ

How do I remove all spaces from text?

Paste it into the app and press Remove spaces. Every space, tab and line break is stripped in your browser and the result appears ready to copy.

Is this app free?

Yes, entirely. There's no signup, no trial and no usage limit, because the tool runs on your own device rather than a server.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The removal happens in your browser's own JavaScript. Nothing is sent over the network.

How do I remove extra spaces but keep single ones?

Use the whitespace minifier instead. It collapses runs of two or more spaces down to one and leaves normal word spacing alone.

Why does find-and-replace leave spaces behind?

It searches for one specific character, usually the regular space bar space. Non-breaking and Unicode spaces are different codepoints that look identical but never match that search.

Does it remove line breaks too?

Yes. Tabs, carriage returns and newlines all count as whitespace and come out along with the spaces.

Will it remove non-breaking spaces?

Yes. That's one of the most common characters left behind by ordinary methods, and it's removed here.

Is there a limit on how much text I can paste?

No. There's no length cap and no run limit. Very large amounts of text depend on your device's own memory, not any restriction the app imposes.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The layout stacks on narrow screens and works in any modern mobile browser.

Does removing spaces change my words?

No. Only whitespace characters are removed. Letters, digits and punctuation come back in the same order.

Can I remove spaces from code?

You can, but be careful. Whitespace is meaningful in Python, YAML and Markdown, and inside string literals in any language. Stripping it all will break those files.

What's the difference between this and a whitespace minifier?

This removes every space. The minifier collapses multiple spaces into one. Use this for slugs and keys, the minifier for tidying readable prose.

Why does my text turn into one long word?

That's the app working as intended: removing every space joins the words together. If you wanted readable spacing kept, use the whitespace minifier instead.

Does it handle Chinese, Japanese and Korean text?

Yes. The ideographic space used in CJK typesetting is recognised as whitespace and removed with the rest.

Can it strip spaces from just the ends of lines?

Not specifically. This app removes every space in the text. For trailing whitespace only, the text splitter handles line-level tidying instead.

Is there an API or a batch mode?

No. It's a single browser tool with no account and no API. Paste as much as your browser can hold in one go.

Do I need to install anything?

No. It's a web page. Open it, paste, run, copy.

Why did my word count change after running this?

Word counters use spaces to find word boundaries. With every space gone, the text reads as a single word, which is expected.

Is it safe for confidential or client text?

Yes, as far as transmission goes. Nothing leaves your browser and nothing is stored; closing the tab ends the session entirely.

Does it remove zero-width characters too?

Zero-width characters are handled by the app's zero-width space remover instead. Use that one for invisible characters breaking search or comparison.
